About two months before “Aquaman: Lost Kingdom” hits cinemas in Germany, there are new details about what went on behind the scenes during filming. Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s trial also seemed to have played a big role on the film set.
In addition to Amber Heard, the second part of the DC comic book adaptation also stars Jason Momoa, Patrick Wilson and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. It was not clear from the start whether Heard would reprise her role after the libel trial between her and Johnny Depp began. Since Depp was stripped of his “Fantastic Beasts” role, an online petition founded in 2019 called for the same for Amber Heard.
Apparently there were some considerations about not giving her the role after all, but according to director James Wan, this had nothing to do with the process. According to Variety, he missed the chemistry between the actress and Jason Momoa in the film. However, other unnamed sources claim the opposite and say that Heard would have been a better choice than other potential cast members for her role. Ultimately, the decisive factor in her not being taken away from the role was a conversation with Amber Heard’s boyfriend at the time, Elon Musk, who convinced the film studio to cast her.
Heard said that while she still retained her role, it was significantly smaller than in the first “Aquaman” film. However, she did not provide any precise information. However, two people very familiar with the production revealed that two of the 37-year-old’s scenes were removed. This includes an action scene with Abdul-Mateen II and a love sequence with Jason Momoa. In the film’s recently released trailer, Heard can only be seen briefly.

Notes from Amber Heard’s therapy also appeared in court documents that were discovered on Reddit. The therapist’s notes revealed that her patient told her that Jason Momoa arrived on set drunk and late and dressed like Johnny Depp. She also reportedly confided to her therapist that it would have been in her best interest to have Momoa fired.
After Variety contacted the production company, they responded to Heard’s allegations against Jason Momoa and said the actor behaved professionally throughout filming. Other sources doubt Amber Heard’s statements and said that the “Aquaman” actor liked to drink a beer, but would never show up drunk for filming. Nor would he imitate Johnny Depp; his clothing would be solely based on his personal “bohemian style”.
Amber Heard did not comment further on the discovered notes, but a person close to her confirmed that the notes were statements about the “Aquaman 2” film and that they emerged from a therapy session on December 27, 2021.
