The last 3,000 meters of the season was also won by speed skater Irene Schouten. The Hoogkarspelse barely kept behind Ragne Wiklund and Martina Sablikova at the World Cup final in Heerenveen this afternoon.
Schouten recorded a time of three minutes, 56 seconds and 82 hundredths. This made the North Holland ‘only’ 0.33 seconds faster than the Norwegian Wiklund. Sablikova from the Czech Republic conceded 0.34 seconds on the winner.
With the victory in Thialf, Heerenveen, Schouten also seizes the World Cup over 3,000 and 5,000 meters. Schouten won all eight of the eight 3,000 meters this season. She drove under four minutes seven times.
