Approach to purchasing power: excise duties down, surcharges up | Inland

Sources report this to De Telegraaf. The reduction in excise duty on fuel and VAT on energy will only take effect on 1 July and will last until the end of the year.

The VAT will drop from 21 percent to 9 percent. The excise duty also falls to 21 percent. That means a reduction of 17.3 cents per liter for petrol and 11.1 cents per liter for diesel

The cabinet will further increase the one-off energy allowance to 800 euros for people with an income around the social assistance level. Now that is 200 euros per person. Municipalities can pay this from April.

Finally, the government has put forward 150 million euros that was earmarked for 2026 to help low-income households take energy-saving measures. With the previous 150 million (last autumn), this is now 300 million euros.
