Mrs. VV Essenburg will become a State Councilor in the Administrative Jurisdiction Division, Mr. JAR van Eijsden will become a State Councilor in extraordinary service in the Administrative Jurisdiction Division and Mrs. SFM Wortmann will become a State Councilor in extraordinary service in the Advisory Division. The Council of Ministers has agreed to the proposal of Minister De Jonge of the Interior and Kingdom Relations in agreement with Minister Weerwind for Legal Protection to nominate them for appointment.
Ms Valérie Essenburg (48 years old) is currently a judge in the Amsterdam District Court and has been seconded for the past three years from the Council for the Judiciary to the Registry of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
Mr Arjo van Eijsden (49 years old) is Vice President of the Supreme Court and is now also a State Councilor in extraordinary service in the Administrative Jurisdiction Division.
Mrs Sylvia Wortmann (67 years old) is currently a State Councilor in the Advisory Division and in the Administrative Jurisdiction Division, and also a member of the Council of State. At her own request, she becomes a State Councilor in extraordinary service only for the Advisory Division.
The appointment of Ms. Essenburg will take effect on January 1, 2024, of Mr. Van Eijsden on October 25, 2023 and of Ms. Wortmann on November 1, 2023.
