At the proposal of Minister Hoekstra of Foreign Affairs, the Council of Ministers has approved the nomination of Prof. Dr. EB (Annelies) Zoomers and Drs. A. (Bram) van Ojik as members of the Advisory Council on International Affairs. The appointment of Professor Zoomers will take effect on 1 April 2023 and the appointment of Drs. Van Ojik on 1 July 2023. Both appointments are for a period of four years.

Professor Zoomers is Professor of Development Studies at the University of Utrecht. From 2019 to 2022, she chaired WOTRO Science for Global Development (NWO). drs. Van Ojik was a member of the House of Representatives and held various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Ambassador to Cotonou, Director of International Research and Policy Evaluation and Special Envoy for Migration.

The Advisory Council on International Affairs is an independent advisory body that advises the government and the States General on foreign policy, in particular with regard to human rights, peace and security, development cooperation and European integration.
