Dr. Michel Heijdra will become Director-General for Climate and Energy at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate. The Council of Ministers has approved the nomination on the proposal of Minister Bruins Slot of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. The appointment will take effect on 22 May 2023.
Michel Heijdra has been Acting Director-General for Climate and Energy at EZK since March 2023. From July 2022, he held the position of Director of Energy Market, also deputy DG Climate and Energy. His previous positions included deputy treasurer general and director of Foreign Financial Relations at the Ministry of Finance.
Michel Heijdra obtained a Masters in Science Theory, a Masters in Philosophy and a Masters in Physics from Leiden University. He obtained a PhD from the VU University in Amsterdam.
This appointment was made through the procedure for the top management group of the General Administrative Service.
