Dr. Jan Jacob van Dijk will be the new chairman of the Council for the Living Environment and Infrastructure (Rli). At the proposal of Minister Harbers of Infrastructure and Water Management, the Council of Ministers has decided to nominate Van Dijk for appointment. Van Dijk is the successor to Jan Jaap de Graeff, whose term is expiring. The appointment takes effect on August 1, 2024 and runs until August 1, 2028.
Van Dijk is chairman of the Energy System Implementation Consultation and chairman of the Executive Board of the Christian Education Group. Previously, Van Dijk was a Member of Parliament for the CDA and a deputy in the province of Gelderland. He was also a special professor of Christian Social Thought at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.
Minister Harbers: “The Rli advises on important themes, such as traffic and transport, climate and the organization of the Netherlands. This advice allows better decisions to be made about legislation and regulations. Jan Jacob van Dijk has extensive experience as a director. The presidency is in good hands with him.”
The Rli is one of the independent strategic advisory councils of the government and parliament. The Rli advises the ministers of IenW, EZK, LNV and BZK on policy that focuses on the physical living environment. For example, in the areas of traffic and transport, climate and the organization of the Netherlands.
