Appointment member of the Council for Culture | News item

Danielle Arets is appointed as a member of the Cultural Council. The Council of Ministers agreed to this on the proposal of State Secretary Gräper of Culture and Media. The appointment will take effect on February 1, 2024 for a period of four years.

Arets is an experienced design researcher with a background in cultural and science studies (Maastricht University), media science (Aarhus University, Universidad Complutense, Madrid) and journalism (Fontys Journalistiek).

As a knowledge manager and associate lecturer in Strategic Creativity at Design Academy Eindhoven, Arets was involved in, among other things, the Creative Research Industries Scientific Program (CRISP). This was a collaboration between the three Technical Universities, the UvA and the VU and companies and institutions from the creative industry, aimed at the strategic positioning of design research.

Arets currently works as a lecturer in Designing Journalism at Fontys University of Journalism in Tilburg. There, with a team of design and journalistic researchers and AI experts, she focuses on journalistic challenges such as the use of Artificial Intelligence in journalism and dealing with disinformation. On behalf of Fontys Hogescholen, Arets is a member of the Knowledge Center for Creative Industry, Inclusive Society and the Knowledge Center for Applied AI for Society.

The Council for Culture is the independent advisory body to the government and parliament in the field of art, culture and media. The Council further consists of the following members: Kristel Baele (chairman), Stef Avezaat, Deirdre Carasso, Nancy Jouwe, Wilbert Mutsaers, John Olivieira-Siere and Edo Righini.
