I. (IVAR) Nijhuis becomes Director-General of the Government Information Service at the Ministry of General Affairs. The Council of Ministers has agreed to the nomination on the proposal of Minister Uitermark of the Interior and Kingdom Relations. The appointment starts on May 1, 2025.
Since September 2020, Ivar Nijhuis has been the Juvenile Area and Security/Asylum and Migration in the United Kingdom for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Before that he was Director of Communication at the Ministry of Justice and Security. From January 2015 to July 2016, IVAR was a program director MH17 at the then Ministry of Security and Justice. He previously fulfilled the position of Director of Communications at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and various communication functions at the municipality of Rotterdam, including head of the Rotterdam Administrative Service.
This appointment was made through the procedure for the top management group of the General Administrative Service.
