At the proposal of Minister Hoekstra of Foreign Affairs, the Council of Ministers has approved the nomination of Ms MWJA (Tanya) van Gool as a member of the Advisory Council on International Affairs. The appointment takes effect on 1 September 2023 and is for a period of four years.
Ms Van Gool has been ambassador in Kenya, Suriname, Bolivia and Romania and has held various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at international organisations. She worked at the European External Action Service (EEAS) from 2011-2017, first as EU ambassador to Colombia and Ecuador and then as head of the EEAS inspection service. Mrs van Gool has been acting as a trainer for the EEAS Diplomatic Academy in Bruges since 2022.
The Advisory Council on International Affairs is an independent advisory body that advises the government and the States General on foreign policy, in particular with regard to human rights, peace and security, development cooperation and European integration.
