  • You are in Studies.
  • You afford one Federal Volunteer Service or do a voluntary social, ecological or cultural year in Germany or abroad.
  • You are in one Transitional period of no more than four months between two periods of training. This includes, for example, the time between leaving school and starting a voluntary service or studying.
  • You can due to a disability not take care of your own maintenance.

A notice: You should consider that you will have to forego the orphan’s pension if you leave school as a Au pair abroad work or want to travel for a while. Be careful too Internships required. Because these are only considered training if it is prescribed by the relevant training, study or examination regulations.

Did you have a child yourself, are you going on parental leave and are you interrupting your education as a result? Then your entitlement to an orphan’s pension during parental leave will no longer apply.

As soon as you turn 27, the pension or accident insurance will stop paying the orphan’s pension at the latest.
