Münster (dpa) – The higher administrative court for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia has confirmed receipt of the application for legal clarification of the spectator question from 1. FC Köln.
According to an OVG spokeswoman, a letter from 1. FC Köln to review the state’s Corona Protection Ordinance has been available in Münster since Monday. From Borussia Dortmund and Arminia Bielefeld, who had also announced corresponding applications for Tuesday, there was still nothing in the morning.
Due to the high incidence numbers at major events of all kinds, the country specifies a spectator limit of 750. According to the application, the Cologne team want to welcome more than 25,000 spectators, or alternatively 10,000 spectators, on Saturday against SC Freiburg. Bielefeld and Dortmund are also playing at home this weekend and want to seek appropriate urgent procedures.
However, the court points out that it cannot decide on the number of viewers. His only question is whether the country’s Corona Protection Ordinance will be confirmed or suspended overall when it comes to major events.
It is currently unclear when the Higher Administrative Court will decide on this issue. The country will first have the opportunity to comment until Wednesday (midnight). The regulation, which has been in force since January 13, expires shortly after the 21st matchday on February 9th.
