Apple Watch Series 9, all in one gesture

The new Apple Watches are not only eco-friendly but now even more accessible. Those who already use the Apple Watch know how useful it is for monitoring their health, physical activity or responding to messages and phone calls at any time, even while doing sports. And those who cycle also know how not easy it is sometimes let go of the handlebars to answer a phone call. It is not certain that the Cupertino engineers introduced the new “Double Tap” gesture with cyclists in mind, but this innovation will certainly help them too.

The new Double Tap gesture of Apple Watch Series 9

With the new Series 9 and Ultra 2, a new gesture: the Double Tap. Doing meet the tip of the index finger and the tip of the thumb twice of the hand on which the watch is placed, without touching the display they can be performed comfortably many one-handed actions. The double tap check the main apps button and, in addition to allowing us to answer a call when we don’t want or can’t use the other hand, it can be used for stop a timer (for example if we are cooking and our hands are dirty)play and pause a song or snooze an alarm and even for take a photo with the Camera app on Apple Watch.

The new double tap gesture is made possible by the faster Neural Engine in Apple Watch Series 9, which processes data from the accelerometer, gyroscope, and optical heart rate sensor using a new machine learning algorithm. The algorithm detects the most subtle unique wrist movements and changes in blood flow when the user double-taps with the index finger and thumb. Double tap will be available with the software update coming next month.

Additionally, the Neural Engine improves dictation accuracy by 25% compared to Apple Watch Series 8.

And if we don’t know where we left our iPhone, now we can use the proximity location from the Watchadding to the sonic discovery too a search for precision same as the one that uses iPhone with AirTags, capable of tell us the distance and direction to follow to find the phone.

And then there’s Snoopy

Without prejudice to all these technological innovations that make the most of the Neural Engine and iOS10, the most adorable and fun news is one: Snoopy’s square. Without taking anything away from the new beautiful chromatic and multi-functional dials, the one with the beagle created by Charles M. Schulz it has no rivals. Every time the screen turns on (which thanks to the energy-efficient S9 SiP chip and advanced screen architecture has increased the maximum brightness of the Apple Watch Series 9 up to 2000 nits) Snoopy does something different: sleeps on his little house, plays Woodstock, digs a hole, dances, types at the typewriter, and so on. There is not a moment of the day when, looking at the time you don’t smile. And these days, it’s a nice gift.

More and more attention to health
