A friend of Antonio Caba, in prison for killing two businessmen in Manzanares (Ciudad Real), explains how the murderer acted and how they kept the property of a victim

The waiter confesses that, three days after the disappearance of Juan Miguel Isla, on July 25, 2022, he agreed to participate in a fraud to take over one of the victim’s properties. “That contract is false. Antonio Caba did all of that and he put me in there… he told me, “this box is going to be for you,” alluding to the house that was inside the victim’s property.
According to his testimony, Caba – who according to the Civil Guard investigation had murdered the businessman and thrown him into a well three days before – copied the victim’s signature from another contract to close the alleged sale. when the man was already dead. The waiter explained that he and Caba went to a Daimiel bar and “I signed, everything is invented.” Since then, and with the legitimate owner gone, he kept the house and Caba with the rest of the property.
“The asshole is gone”
Juan Miguel Isla had disappeared three days before his farm was taken over. Since then, Caba and his friend, who did not know what had happened, talked about the case. “He told me: now the asshole, he’s gone out there.” In other recordings that appear in the summary, advanced by CASO ABIERTO, Caba speaks with another person who even points out that the victim he could have gone with prostitutes.
From that month of July until January 2023, Caba and his friend continued to lead a normal life. Also inside the farm and the house. The waiter recalled before the judge some episodes that occurred there, in the place where his friend would have killed the businessman then officially missing. Caba came with some frequency and “was obsessed” with cleaning the curtains, “another day, in September or October, he came there and took two or three bottles of turpentine or something like that and threw it over the walls,” supposedly to get rid of “fleas and mosquitoes.”
Caba repeated these episodes of cleaning the crime scene on other occasions, according to the statement of his former friend: “He called me and said: are you in the countryside? Last January, CASO ABIERTO announced that the Civil Guard linked the disappearance of Juan Miguel Isla with that of another businessman, Jesús González Borrajo, which occurred in 2019, and that the same person was being investigated for both cases. The waiter remembers in his testimony as a witness before the judge that he spoke with Antonio Caba about that matter, especially about what they said “in Ana Rosa”, in reference to Ana Rosa Quintana’s program on Telecinco. Shortly after, the Civil Guard recovered the car of the second missing person, which had been abandoned in Albacete. The witness remembers that he was the one who notified Caba, after finding out “on Facebook.”
The investigations advanced. The Civil Guard placed a microphone in the suspect’s car and heard his thoughts out loud. Shortly after, he arrested Antonio Caba and a retiree, Gaspar Rivera, for the crime. In March, they recovered the body of Juan Miguel Isla inside a well. In June they recovered the body of the other missing person. Before the judge, the waiter explains that he never imagined that his friend could be a murderer: “I have not distrustful, I have been blind with this man. He has manipulate…blind, blind. I have had it at an altar, if I have defended it.”

“Don Antonio”
He recalled, in that sense, that Caba “went to the Civil Guard barracks and they called him Don Antonio”, because he had friends “who are senior officials of the Civil Guard” in the Manzanares area. And that they also “noticed anything about the profile that this man had.”
Regarding the true character of his former friend, he provided an anecdote that occurred at the crime scene: “in January we made rice with lobster, which a friend of mine bought the lobsters, and he (Caba) went there to eat… How cold-blooded you have to be to eat there. And he sat there eating after he had done what he did there. If he didn’t notice that he was like this man… Unimaginable.”
Antonio Caba is in prison for the two murders and has not testified either before the Civil Guard, who arrested him, or before the judge.
