Each year, Apple awards the best apps in its app stores on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. It is one of the company’s two awards: the Apple Design Awards are also awarded in the summer.
‘BeReal’ is a social photo app that encourages users to share a photo that is as spontaneous as possible with other users. It thus tries to be a clear counterpoint to other well-known photo networks, on which users often only show the edited, polished highlights of their lives.
The app suddenly became popular earlier this year when users switched from Instagram. They were dissatisfied after an Instagram update that suddenly made that app look more like TikTok.
