Anzegem narrowly beats Wielsbeke

The game couldn’t have started better for Anzegem, which immediately punished Wielsbeke for losing the ball. Vanwalleghem first cleverly takes Lecour’s shot, but Belmans is well followed. Moments later, the same Belmans catches up well on a corner, but Vanwalleghem is alert again. The match then ripples on, and Wielsbeke tries to get out of Anzegem’s control. A header from Verstraete is a first warning, a volley from Coopman a second. Anzegem counters with a good attempt from Lecour, again on instructions from Belmans. But the equalizer comes anyway. Jarne Wullaert curls into the ball like a prince, and that in front of sister Tessa.

Anzegem takes control of the game again after the break, but chances are scarce. Until Belmans gets involved in the matter again. He scores his second of the afternoon. And it looks better and better for the home team, when the ref whistles a penalty after a one-two between Lecour and De Bruycker. The latter can get the job done. 3-1, but Wielsbeke is not yet in the ropes. Coopman provides the tying goal, and so close to the equalizer. It remains 3-2 for Anzegem.

In the standings, Anzegem remains third, and is within 4 points of leader Overijse, Wielsbeke is eighth.
