ANWB expects busy evening rush hour due to Pentecost weekend | Inland

It is probably already busier than usual on the road by holidaymakers on Friday afternoon. The ANWB expects most traffic jams to be resolved around 7 p.m. In 2019, before corona, there was a 900 kilometer traffic jam on the eve of the Whitsun weekend.

For the rest of the weekend, traffic jams are expected in the direction of events, theme parks and outlet centers. For example, there are the Whitsun races on the Zandvoort circuit, an Eleven Cities Cycling Tour in Friesland and the North Sea Regatta in Scheveningen.

The Pentecost conference Opwekking will be held at the Walibi Holland event site in Biddinghuizen in the coming days. Tens of thousands of Christians then gather to celebrate Pentecost together.

Also Monday, on Whit Monday, the ANWB expects a lot of traffic on the road, then by returning holidaymakers. It will be especially slow driving towards Germany on the A1, A12 and A67. In the course of Monday evening it will be busy in the center of the country and from Zeeland.

Last Wednesday, before the Ascension weekend, the busiest evening rush of the year was observed, with more than 1120 kilometers of slow-moving traffic. This means that the number of traffic jams around Ascension Day was comparable to that in the time before corona.
