Jyväskylä’s Kirittäret took their first shot at the championship in the women’s Superpesis on Saturday. In the opening match of the final series, Kirittäret defeated Manse PP 2–0 (5–2, 5–2).

The biggest star of the Kirittäri was two kunnars and two regulars and five runs scored Eeva Mäki-Maukola (tip shots 12/15). He scored the crucial runs in both the innings.

Emma Körkkö homered three times.

At the end of the first period of the match, things got heated when Mansen led the second game Antti Vihtkari got sent off.

The situation started when Mäki-Maukola of Kirittärien went home Ella Korpelan and circled the glory itself. Vihtkari and some of Mansen’s players protested that the hit was illegal.

Vihtkari threw his fan to the ground in anger and went to complain about the situation to the judges. The referee received a yellow card. Vihtkari already started to walk away from the judges, but turned back and seemed to give snappy feedback one more time.

The jury gave Vihtkari a red card, i.e. sent off. As he left, Vihtkari applauded the judge.

– Not true, get out! Quite childish. Now let’s go Antti, Ruutu’s expert Risto Ojanperä updated.

– No God, the narrator Aleksis Ärje stated seeing the slowdown.

Request for investigation

Manse PP did not digest Vihtkari’s exit. The number one game manager Jari Cavernelis said after the match in Ruudtu’s interview that the club will make a request for an investigation of the red card to the Päsäpalloliito.

– When the finals are played, the red card came for really easy reasons. Of course, we will request an investigation into this.

– The yellow card came in a protest situation. Then Antti protested again, but didn’t say a nasty word.

Manse PP’s leadership has wavered earlier this season as well. In the semi-final series against Lapua Virkiä, Cavernelis fanned right in front of the opponent’s locker.

Disciplinary assigned one disciplinary point to Cavernelis for provoking and unsportsmanlike conduct.

Kunnari decided

Kirittäret sealed the win in the opening period in the same inning where Vihtkari got a strikeout. Mäki-Maukola hit two runs off Körkö and Sara Kujanen accompanying.

The second period started again under the command of the Jyväskylä people. At the end of the second, Kirittäret already led 3–0.

Manse got Kiri going in the third inning, breaking the women’s Superpesis single-season record for runs batted in this season Siri School punched through from the second side. Kirittäri’s outfield messed up in the situation, and the ball went under the flap all the way to the grass.

Eskola went home Saga-Angelia Raudasojan and made a municipality.

However, Mäki-Maukola spoiled Kiri with a familiar trick from the opening episode. He repatriated Korpela and went around the honor himself.

The final series continues on Sunday in Jyväskylä. The championship comes off with three wins.
