French fashion house Christian Dior SE has confirmed Antoine Arnault, the eldest son of LVMH boss Bernard Arnault, as its new CEO and vice chairman. The decision followed after Sidney Toledano announced that he wanted to give up his management position at Christian Dior SE.
Antoine Arnault’s appointment follows a decision taken at the Company’s Board of Directors meeting on December 8, 2022, following a review of the recommendations of the Nominating and Compensation Committee.
“This election was made as part of the conversion of Agache SE into a partnership limited by shares (société en commandite par actions) that took place on December 6, 2022 and the long-term retention of family control over Christian Dior SE and LVMH Moët Hennessy-Louis Vuitton SE will enable,” the company commented in a statement on Friday morning.
Antoine Arnault began his career in the advertising department at Louis Vuitton and then worked his way up to LVMH. His first management position followed in 2012 for the Italian shoe label Berluti, which he transformed into an international luxury lifestyle brand for men. He is also Chairman of luxury cashmere retailer Loro Piana.
Sidney Toledano leaves Christian Dior
“Bernard Arnault, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Christian Dior SE, and the other members of the Board of Directors sincerely thank Sidney Toledano for the high level of professionalism he has always shown in the exercise of this mandate,” the statement continues.
Toledano joined Christian Dior Couture in 1994 as head of the leather goods department, before becoming Managing Director in 1996 with responsibility for international development. In 1998 he was appointed President and CEO of Christian Dior Couture to drive the development of the brand and place Christian Dior at the forefront of the most recognized brands in the luxury sector. He has been appointed Vice President, Managing Director and Board Member of Christian Dior SE.
