Anticlimax for cauliflower king Slagter; skater has to get out early again

Things are not going well for the ‘cauliflower king’ of the Marathon Cup, Ruud Slagter. The skater from Lutjebroek only reached the finish line once and that was not possible today either. Slagter had to stop fighting at Skating Rink De Westfries after 44 of the 125 rounds. It was positive that Haarlemmer Jeroen Janissen finished third.

It was not the preparation of the West Frisian. It was good, because he got out after about a quarter of the Marathon Cup. Ironically enough Bspring cabbage van Oos Joos just turned on when he stepped off the ice. In the end, there was positive news for another North Hollander, Jeroen Janissen, who crossed the finish line in Hoorn in third place.

Cauliflower king

The debut season of the 26-year-old Slagter is not yet going smoothly. De Lutjebroeker had to retire early in five of six marathons. He only crossed the finish line during the second Marathon Cup in Enschede.

Slagter has skated with the promises for the past eight years and had somewhat given up on the dream for the A category. He decided to join his parents’ family business. That is why he has since been affectionately referred to as the ‘cauliflower king’.

Third place

Jeroen Janissen crossed the line in third place. The Haarlemmer is having a strong season and has not yet finished outside the top ten. The 25-year-old skater even won the first competition on the Jaap Edenbaan.
