John de Mol has taken years and years to get Anouk to participate as a coach in The Voice of Holland. He wanted that so badly that he had all those conversations with her personally. The first conversation took place before the start of the program in 2010. Then he made her an unprecedented financial proposal.

blood amount

Anouk was allowed to become a co-shareholder of the Voice format if she would have joined in 2010. “The fact that I said no to that was of course a very stupid move, in retrospect. If I had done that, I wouldn’t have had to sit here anymore, I would have had an island somewhere and you would never have seen me again,” she says in de Volkskrant

Since she was not yet interested in TV, Anouk refused the offer. After many years, John still managed to snare her. “We sat together a few times, for a drink or something to eat. (…) He persevered and got what he wanted. For a blood amount, haha.”

Silent John

Where John was very fanatical all those years to get Anouk on board, he has been silent since the outbreak of the abuse scandal around The Voice. Very quiet. She never heard from him again. “No. Only Peter van der Vorst called.”

Why doesn’t a John de Mol do that? “I think people are afraid to talk, afraid to call me. Everyone is afraid that conversations will be recorded, screenshots of apps, it is all dangerous. I have that feeling.”

Goodbye with Peter

Peter van der Vorst, the TV boss of RTL, did call Anouk. And Anouk was not exactly discreet with the content of that conversation. She has revealed that Peter was hanging on a leash like a ‘screaming suckling pig’.

How is their contact now? “He thought I was a backstabber† We’ve talked it out, it’s okay again.”
