FC Bayern has prematurely extended the contract of sports director Hasan Salihamidzic. The club officially confirmed this in the evening. The original contract would have expired in 2023.

The supervisory board of FC Bayern München AG unanimously extended the contract of sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic at its meeting on Monday evening (08/29/22) by a further three years until 30 June 2026. The former FC Bayern player became sports director in 2017, and in 2020 the supervisory board appointed him to the board of FC Bayern München AG for an initial three years until June 30, 2023.

Hainer praises Salihamidzic

President Herbert Hainer had already said in July that Munich wanted to extend Salihamidzic. Hainer has now explained that Salihamidzic has done an excellent job in the five years that he has been in charge at Bayern Munich. “He is constantly developing the sporting area of our professionals and talents, both structurally and personally. In addition to our goals on the field, he always keeps an eye on the economic conditions.”

Transfers: criticism follows recognition

Salihamidzic has been publicly criticized for transfers in the past. The purchases of Sadio Mané (Liverpool), Noussair Mazraoui and Ryan Gravenberch (both Ajax Amsterdam) as well as Matthijs de Ligt (Juventus Turin) for the one that has just started brought him a lot of recognition recently.
