Another suspicious passage in the song André Hazes Jr.? “Lick my r**t!”

André Hazes jr. emphasizes that only ‘two sentences’ in his new single Deel Van Mij resemble Gavin DeGraw’s hit Fire, but is that really the case? “The beginning actually looks like it!”

There is a lot of commotion about the new song Deel Van Mij by André Hazes Jr., because the chorus is extremely similar to that of the Gavin DeGraw hit Fire. To make matters worse, it turned out that one of his lyricists is a huge fan of this singer. After Frank Dane’s first failed attempt, he still critically questioned the singer yesterday.

‘heavy k*t’

André frankly admits the similarity. “Yes, two sentences. Be honest,” he says Radio 538. “Did I sink through the ground? The first day, yes. I was bummed, I was angry with everyone. I think: how could no one have heard this? I called my manager and I’m in a group app with my team and I’ve been deflated for a while, yes.

According to André, the rest of the song ‘really doesn’t look like it’. “It’s just two sentences in the chorus which is just heavy k*t, you know. It’s pure coincidence. I’ll be honest: we always work with reference records, so I come into the studio and say: ‘Guys, I have two great songs, this seems like a cool mix.’”

Duffy and Adele

So what is this song based on? André confesses: “Song one was one by Adele and song two was one by Duffy. That Stepping Stone. From there we started working. In Rolling in the Deep, for example, there is that: poof, poof, poof. We then use that from one song and with Duffy it had to do with a piano piece.”

The hit by Gavin DeGraw was therefore not used, according to André. “I didn’t know this song. But guys, again: it’s two sentences in a whole song.”

‘beginning also seems’

Sidekick Jelte van der Goot does not entirely agree. “We were listening to the beginning and with the knowledge we have now… You may have made it a different way, but with the knowledge we have now the beginning is also a bit similar.”

André is shocked: “No, lick my ass, no way. No, it doesn’t look like it. You’re f*cking me.”

Jelte: “No, I’m really not f*cking you. No, no, seriously. In all honesty.”

‘Seems so bad’

Newsreader Airen Mylene agrees: “This seems so bad. Then you just switched writers team… That was a breach of trust, because that’s not so nice how you broke up. Then you have put all your trust in your new one and then this happens…”

André: “Yes, guys: it’s bad luck. I’ll tell you honestly: day one I was really angry about it. Day two was still about it. And on day three I thought, Jesus, what a promo. Yes. That’s just how I see it.”

And now? “We have contacted Gavin DeGraws management and publishers and stuff and they should be talking to each other. Maybe he’ll say, “Guys, the rest don’t look like it. We don’t do anything with it.’”

Plagiarism

Is André sure that plagiarism has not been committed willfully and knowingly? Leo: “You don’t think someone from your team just knew and thought about this…”

André: “No, no, no, no. Listen: I was there. Guys, you know how honest I am with you, don’t you?”

And what about that lyricist who is a fan of Gavin? “But he doesn’t decide that, you know?”

It is what it is, André concludes. “If it’s going to cost me something, then it’s k*t.”

Critical interview

Frank and his team put André to the test quite firmly, also about his disturbed family relationships. Normally, the radio DJ always tries to keep things cozy by crawling into the backside of celebrities, but now he proves that a pleasant radio conversation can also go hand in hand with asking relevant questions.

Incidentally, André was not very happy with that: “Do you know what k * t is? Listen. You’ve read too much: “You have to hit him harder!”. You’re going to do that now, aren’t you, today?”

And a little later: “Guys, hold on, hold on. Can it also be positive for once or not?”
