Milos Kerkez also closes the door at AZ behind him. The only 19-year-old left back of the Alkmaarders makes the switch to the English Bournemouth. Kerkez has rapidly emerged as a crowd favorite at AZ.
“I am very sorry that I am leaving this beautiful club,” says Kerkez in his farewell interview on the AZ website. “Especially because my career started to grow here. First during the games of Jong AZ and then with the first. I was able to develop myself here into the player I am today. Everyone really accepted me here. My time here is unforgettable. I want to thank the fans and all employees. AZ and the fans are forever in my heart. ”
AZ took over Kerkez from AC Milan’s second team at the beginning of last year. The born Serbian mainly played in Young AZ in the first half of the year, but had his breakthrough last season. The defender played a total of 57 games for the AZ first team, 52 of which in the past year. Kerkez scored five times and provided eight assists.
“It is admirable to see how quickly he has made such great strides,” said football affairs director Max Huiberts. “After such a development, it was no surprise to us that several clubs were interested.”
AZ already received tens of millions on Wednesday for midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, who completed his transfer to AC Milan. Defender Sam Beukema left earlier for Bologna.
