Another month and then it’s time. The European Cycling Championship will then take place on the VAM mountain in Wijster. But before all cyclists can start, the new cycle path on the Dak van Drenthe still has to be laid.
The new mountain is 63 meters above NAP, about fifteen meters higher than the current highest point of the VAM mountain. The route also becomes slightly steeper. In some places the gradient is sixteen percent. “It must be a serious climb for cyclists,” says Harrold Zeewuster, supervisor of waste processing company Attero.
But before cycling, there must be asphalt first. And we are working hard on that this week. Three layers will be poured, so that the cycle path will be in good condition.
