Another pyro attack on rescue workers in Berlin on Monday night! A 1.5 million euro special ambulance was hit by firecrackers in Hellersdorf.
The reports of attacks on rescue workers in Berlin have not stopped since New Year’s Eve: in Berlin-Hellersdorf on Monday night, a special ambulance car for stroke patients was attacked and firecrackers were thrown at them.
The so-called stroke mobile (STEMO) has been the battleship of the fire brigade for many years for treating strokes, where every minute counts. The vehicle, which costs around 1.5 million euros, has the normal equipment of an ambulance as well as a mobile computer tomograph.
On Sunday evening around 9 p.m., the rescuers were called to Edgar-André-Straße in Hellersdorf to a patient suspected of having a stroke.
Upon arrival, several pyro crackers are said to have hit the roof of the stroke ambulance and detonated there.
The emergency paramedics alerted the police to protect themselves, who rushed to help with several radio vehicles and a service dog.
It is not yet known whether the perpetrator or perpetrators could be found on site. The crew of the ambulance was able to continue their work safely. The police are now investigating.
The Berlin spokesman for the police union GDP Benjamin Jendro spokesman said about the new incident: It is clear to see that such attacks are not a “Neukölln specialty on New Year’s Eve”.
There are “all year round” people who “attacked emergency services and vehicles with stones, bottles, pyrotechnics and other weapons in senseless acts of violence” and thus risked human lives.
