The A7 between Purmerend and Hoorn was blocked for hours this evening by protesting farmers. About 25 tractors took to the highway there.
The farmers set fire to hay bales and car tires. Traffic has been diverted past the blockade via an entrance and exit ramp. Officers entered into discussions with the farmers, a police spokesperson said.
Farmers’ protests are also taking place in other places in the country, such as on the A50 near Apeldoorn, the A32 near Steenwijk and the A1 near Markelo.

Last Friday and Saturday there was also a farmers’ protest on the A7. On Friday, farmers carried pamphlets with their views. Number one was rolling back the Green Deal. Farmers are also dissatisfied with rules on fertilization and buffer strips.
Manure policy
Due to the updated manure policy, farmers are now no longer allowed to spread manure near ditches. There is now a so-called buffer zone around all ditches, a strip of land that farmers can no longer use. NH spoke about this with farmer Barry earlier today:
