Heavy fireworks were set off at a business premises on Koedijkerstraat in Alkmaar this evening. The explosion shattered the window. The police are investigating and no one has been arrested yet. It is the third explosion within 24 hours in Alkmaar.
The emergency services were alerted around 9.25 pm this evening, a spokesperson said. Initially, many fire engines were also called in, but that turned out to be unnecessary.
The target appears to be a company that trades in accessories for commercial vehicles. The police assume that heavy fireworks were set off at the facade. Apart from damage to the building, no injuries were reported.
The road is closed and police are investigating. A police helicopter also went into the air to search. No one has been arrested at this time.
