The war in the Middle East as a result of the attacks on Israel by Hamas terrorists continues to keep the capital’s security authorities on tenterhooks. A large demonstration has been announced for Saturday afternoon, which will lead through several districts. Riots cannot be ruled out.
► Under the motto “Decolonize Human Rights”, the demonstrators – the announced number of participants was given as 3,000 – want to walk from the Platz der Luftbrücke via Oranienplatz, Oranienstraße, Moritzplatz, Prinzenstraße, Urbanstraße, Zossener Straße, Gneisenaustraße and Mehringdamm back to the Platz der Luftbrücke .
In the afternoon, several hundred demonstrators gathered in Kreuzberg with Palestine flags. Numerous police forces were on site – for example at Oranienplatz. A water cannon is also available.
► Another procession, which was supposed to start at 3 p.m. at Dorothea-Schlegel-Platz with 1,300 participants and end at 6 p.m. at Alexanderplatz, was canceled. However, the police do not want to rule out the possibility that these participants could join the large demonstration.
► In addition, between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. there will be a rally in front of the Egyptian embassy under the motto “Egypt, don’t look away! Open the Gates to Gaza”. 500 participants are expected.
In this context, a police leader points out that the Berlin emergency services have reached their limit due to the permanent additional tasks.
Israel haters had already called for demonstrations across Europe last Saturday – more than 8,500 gathered in the center of Berlin. They agitated against Israel, relativized the Holocaust – and then also attacked the police and children.
