Another chase in Rijsbergen, three more men arrested

People were surprised in Rijsbergen when there was another chase on Thursday afternoon. A Belgian police car drove through the village with flashing lights and siren, following a car. A 23-year-old man from Zundert was arrested because he was a danger on the road. A week earlier, Rijsbergen was the scene of a headhunt for three gun-threatening robbers.

Agents of the Dutch and Belgian police held a joint action in Rijsbergen on Thursday afternoon. Dutch and Belgian agents drove together in police cars from both countries, in order to strengthen their cooperation. During that action, two officers saw a driver driving at high speed to the built-up area of ​​Zundert.

The officers who were in a Belgian car decided to follow the driver and signaled him to stop. The driver took off anyway and a chase ensued through the countryside and the built-up area of ​​Rijsbergen.

With reinforcements from other officers, the police were able to stop the driver on Antwerpseweg (N263). He was immediately arrested for driving without a license, dangerous driving and possession of burglary equipment. Two other occupants also received an official report for the burglary items. The car has been seized.

“For a moment there was fear of a similar situation to the week before, but fortunately it did not have to come to that,” the police write. By this she refers to the manhunt for three young robbers by about seventy police officers, after a robbery of a gun shop in Nieuwmoer, Belgium.
