Another cash register for FC Groningen: Ngonge makes a move at top club Napoli

Cyril Ngonge is officially a SCC Napoli player. The reigning champion of Italy takes him over from Hellas Verona for around 18 million. The Belgian left FC Groningen for a bargain price in 2022, after making himself impossible within the selection.

Ngonge’s transfer has been official since Friday evening. According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, this would involve a transfer fee of eighteen million euros, plus two million in (possible) bonuses.

Upon his departure from Euroborg in 2022, FC Groningen negotiated a resale percentage for the attacker. It appears to be about 10 percent, which amounts to almost 2 million euros.

Even though things are going a lot less well at Napoli this season than in the championship year, Ngonge can already win a prize 48 hours after making his mark. On Monday, January 22, the club will play for the Italian Super Cup against Internazionale from Milan.

The millions are pouring in

Earlier this week it was also a cash register in Groningen. Thanks to the sale of Radinio Balker to Huddersfield Town, 1.35 million euros flowed into the club’s coffers.

The club can also credit a nice amount from the upcoming transfer of Azor Matusiwa. The midfielder, who sold FC Groningen to Stade Reims for 4 million euros in 2021, is about to transfer to Rennes for 15 million euros. This would mean that northerners can look forward to another 1.5 million euros.

With part of all the incoming money, FC Groningen must look for offensive reinforcements in the coming days. Rui Mendes from FC Emmen would be at the top of the wish list.
