Another 26.6 million euros for special education student transport | Inland

The problem of student transport in special education is not new, but at the end of last year came to the fore again due to the poignant stories of children and young people who have to sit on the bus to school for four or five hours a day, or even longer.

At the start of the new school year, Peeters allocated 1.8 million euros extra to solve the most precarious situations. In December, the government announced that it would invest an additional 11 million euros in student transport in special education. Transport company De Lijn was commissioned to look together with the schools to find the best solution for each student.

Now another 26.6 million euros is being made available. The aim is to reduce the time for each student to under 90 minutes per ride.
