The United States will deploy another 2,500 troops in Poland, Bloomberg reports, citing a statement by the head of the Polish National Security Bureau, Pavel Solokh.
The Pentagon put 8,500 troops on high alert in order to deploy them to Europe, if necessary, in connection with the tense situation around Ukraine.
US Department of Defense spokesman John Kirby said in this regard that several US airborne divisions have been put on high alert for possible deployment to Eastern Europe in the event of an escalation in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the aforementioned 8,500 American servicemen will be part of NATO Rapid Response Force numbering 40 thousand people.
The Rapid Reaction Forces are a joint operational group of troops with a high degree of combat readiness. These forces also included combat aircraft, ships and special operations forces.
