“There’s something magical about suddenly inserting words that you’ve been thinking about for a long time into a melody. A neural system awakens. It’s not personal and yet so personal. Things connect and come alive,” says ANOHNI in the press release for the new release. Soul producer and Amy Winehouse collaborator Jimmy Hogarth also worked on the project.

Since the album HOPELESSNESS (2016) ANOHNI has learned a lot about the power of their own music: “Dhat I can deliver a soundtrack that can empower people in their work, in their activism, in their dreams and decisions. I can sing of an awareness that makes others feel less alone, people for whom the open articulation of these frightening times is not a source of uneasiness but a source of identification and relief. I want my work to be useful, to help others go through these conversations that we must have now with dignity and resilience.”
