A fencer Annimari Korte improved his own personal record in the 60-meter time trial in the indoor competition organized in Liikuntamylly, Helsinki. The record run was created in the heats, and the result was 8.03, which is two hundredths better than the previous record, which was run twice in January.
The time is also the result limit for the EC Indoor Championships in Istanbul in March.
In the final run, Korte said he got a worse start, but still clocked almost the same time, 8.06. The runner added that he also had a cold.
– Still recovering from the flu, but fortunately not as badly recovered as the previous weekend from a stomach bug, Korte commented on his Instagram page.
The Helsinki IFK athlete says in the Athletics Federation’s press release that he will go to the doctor for a check-up due to a recently acquired stomach disease and will then make decisions about participating in the next indoor games.
Hurske’s record result is still far from the domestic top result. Reetta Hurske has run as much as 7.86 at his best during the winter. There’s still room between the two Lotta Harala at 8.00. So Finland has three women’s speed skaters who have reached the EC limit.
