Annimari Korte changed her sport – Expert amazed: “Actually impossible”

Annimari Korte ran in Lappeenranta, surprisingly, without hurdles. The home crowd was treated to a three-jump spot.

Annimari Korte missed the rapids in Lappeenranta. Instead, he decided to spring a hundred smooth, which folded at 12:00. Korte was fourth in his heat.

Aituritähti’s choice of sport surprised Iltalehti’s athletics expert Arto Bryggaren.

– I was surprised that he has complained about problems in his hind legs, but still ran a hundred. When I had problems with my hind legs, I had no hope of running a hundred, Bryggare says and continues.

– The step of sprinting is such that if there is even a small tear in the hind thigh, then it is actually impossible to bend over and hit from there.

Although Korte ran his own record on the smooth, according to Bryggare, the time does not promise very miraculous results for fast fences. He also can’t say how the smooth race served Kortte’s parade sport at this stage.

– When I used to run smooth with a long stride when I was younger, after that the hurdles got really messed up. Of course, my structure is quite different from Annimari.

Defection party

He was responsible for the loudest Finnish jytky of the evening Aaro Davidila, 23, who bounced 16.83 in the triple jump. It was Davidila’s record, the fifth best result of all time in Finland and the sixth best performance in Europe this season.

However, Bryggare pours ice into the hats of the enthusiasts.

– Davidila was nowhere near that result before the last jump. His level is between 15.90 and 16.10, but the last jump had good conditions. It was still a huge and great thing for him.

The one who bounced in front of the home crowd was responsible for the longest jump of the competition Simo Lipsanenbut unfortunately it was flagged as overcrowded.

– It was around 17.20–17.30. It was by far the best jump in Lipsanen’s life. Everything else went right for Simo in that jump, except that it was overstepped.

Lipsanen holds the SE result of 17.14, which was created in 2017.

Also Senni Salminen made a handsome return to the sandbox to the delight of the home crowd. At the last time, he jumped the domestic best result of the season 14.03.

– Senni had great difficulty getting a jump together, until then, dictated by necessity, he showed what he was made of with the last one.

Lacquer on the attack

Elmo Lakka clocked the second best time of his career (13.43) in the high hurdles final, considering only the permitted conditions.

– I feel that Lakka is in good shape. And at a very good time! Bryggare gets excited.

Lacka still has a little work to do at the beginning of the run, but the end will be tough.

– It’s a good thing, because the initial speed comes through hard races and rest.

– Laka’s situation is very good, considering, for example, the World Championships in Budapest. You have to run hard there if you want to make it to the semifinals, let alone the finals, but Elmo has a tough time up his sleeve.

Only 18 years old Rasmus Vehmaa stopped the clocks at 13.39 in the under-19 hurdles race and set a new Finnish record for his age group.

Twin brother Kasperi Vehmaa on the other hand, came second in the long race with his own record of 7.75.

– The brothers’ performances were incredibly hard. Very hard, Bryggare enthuses.

Kankea Hurske

Reetta Hurske was, on the other hand, far from his own top level. The woman who returned from a two-week training break won the high-speed hurdles with a result of 13.11.

– Reita has definitely been training. There is no other way to explain time. You could see from the run that it was tough. It didn’t have the crispness that comes with rest.

Bryggare is not worried about the World Championships in Budapest yet.

– But if next week there are times of 13.00 at the Kaleva Games, then it’s hard to imagine that we’ll get there around 12.60.

Useless rabbit

The last and perhaps the most anticipated event of the evening was the men’s 1,500 meters, where Joonas Rinne went chasing the Finnish record in good conditions.

The man won the race and took some hard scalps, but the SE time remained a dream, as no one set out to run smartly like a hare Ville Lampinen after.

In an interview with Yle after the race, Rinne regretted that the runners who booked times starting at 3:34 didn’t jump on the bandwagon. Bryggare wonders at the comment.

– When running in Finland and the Finnish record is the goal, why didn’t Rinne himself order a suitable pace? Or why didn’t he go after the hare himself?

The final time on the slope was 3:37.80.
