Annika, the new crime series with Nicola Walker: previews

Annika is a ‘inspector of the Scottish police of Norwegian origins who recently moved toHomicide Unit of the Glasgow Navytaking his daughter Morgan (Silvie Furneaux), a teenage girl. The relations between the two are very tense and are thoroughly explored over the six episodes.

The woman’s job is to investigate crimes and murders that occur in the waterways of Scotland, from the depths of the river Clydethe most important in the country, on the island of Bute in the southwest coast up to the suggestive Katrine Lake, in the county of Stirling.

Helping her with her investigation is her team, which includes Inspector Tyrone Clarke (Ukweli Roach), Detective Michael Andrews (Jamie Sives) and Agent Blair Ferguson (Katie Leung).

The first case of the inspector

The first investigation that Annika faces concerns the discovery of a man killed with a harpoon. The victim is the owner of a boat that takes tourists on a whale hunt. The problem is that the only suspect he comes killed in an accident. Meanwhile, his daughter Morgan tries to settle into his new school.

From the very first moment the viewer immediately becomes familiar with the protagonistwho staring at the camera addresses the viewers directly, sharing suspicions, doubts and concerns with them.

The series, in fact, offers a different perspective within the crime genre because breaks down the barriers between the main character and his audiencewho becomes a confidant and feels involved in the investigation as much as the protagonist.

“I liked it a lot because I imagined talking to someone sitting at home on their sofa. As if you were my partner in solving the crime, ”Walker said. Plus Annika has one great passion for literature: often also draws from great writers and from Greek mythology to arrive at the solution of his very complicated cases.
