In 2019, research agency Atlas Research calculated in which places homes have decreased in value due to earthquakes from the Groningen gas field.
To qualify for the scheme, forty percent of the homes in an area must have fallen in value. The areas are divided based on zip code.
Residents of places with the relevant zip codes can receive compensation. This compensation is calculated based on the decline in value of their home compared to equivalent homes in parts of the country where earthquakes do not occur.
The postal code of the village of Annerveenschekanaal is excluded from the scheme, but residents from neighboring villages Kiel-Windeweer, Eexterveenschekanaal and Spijkerboor can receive money.
