When Annerie Kremer started her funeral company in Meppel in 2006, she already alluded to it. “If that church comes up for sale for one euro, I will be at the front,” she said at the time. And the church in question, the Grote or Mariakerk in the city center of Meppel, was indeed sold for that symbolic amount. There were five interested parties, but the choice fell on Kremer.
