Years ago, Annelies started in the drug department of a drugstore. “One day I had to replace someone from the perfume department. I liked that so much that I never wanted to do anything else again, so I applied to Ici Paris XL.” Annelies has been working for 25 years now Ici Paris XL.
A nice place in Zoetermeer
“I started as an upcoming sales employee at the branch in Scheveningen. After that I worked for a while in the branch in The Hague, on the Grote Markt. Since 2007 I have been a branch manager in Zoetermeer.”
Annelies has completely found her place in Zoetermeer. “It is very different from the other branches where I worked; there came many tourists. I have many regular customers, who sometimes just come to chat. I think this is a super fun location, on the cozy square with a nice fountain and a terrace. Both the customers and the other entrepreneurs in Stadshart make this a very nice place to work.”

Shopping with a personal touch
Not a day is the same for Annelies. “We do everything: receiving new products, packing gifts and making sure the store looks nice. In addition, as a branch manager I make the work schedule and sometimes I keep applications. But the most important thing is to help customers and ensure that they are happy to walk out the door.”
If you enter Annelies store, you can count on personal service. “You will be helped by the same employee from start to finish. The person who greets you also gives you advice, will pay your products with you and are looking for a few fun samples For you to try at home. ”
Advice for everything
Customers ask Annelies for all kinds of advice. “People want to know which color eye shadow suits them best, or what kind of gift they have to buy for someone. I like to advise people on skin care.”
“Someone can feel very insecure about their skin problems. If I can recommend the right product for that and they come back to the store a few weeks later, that makes me happy too. Some people are so grateful that they come to bring a cake.”

Special Moments
Annelies and her team are committed to making as many people as possible happy. This way she also experiences special moments. “A while ago there was a lady with a couple of gifting vouchers. She said she hadn’t had time to come and shop because her son was seriously ill. Then we hired those gift vouchers. There that lady was so moved that the tears were jumping in her eyes.”
Proud of each other
Annelies is proud of her store, but she is most proud of her team. “We are having a great time with each other. Everyone is different, there are people from sixteen to seventy -six years here. All team members are super collegial. We help each other as much as possible and sometimes go out to eat outside of work. Our customers also note that we have a good atmosphere in the workplace, they also like that.”
