Anneke van der Steeg honored with ribbon because of decades of volunteer effort

Anneke van der Steeg-Vos received a royal decoration this morning for her work as a volunteer for activities center De Dobbe and Stichting Welzijn in Roden. Mayor Klaas Smid van Noordenveld appointed her as a Member of the Order of Orange-Nassau.

Van der Steeg spends an average of 15 to 20 hours a week in De Dobbe, where she works as treasurer at the elderly society. She also organizes courses and does canteen and office work. “This makes it a well-known and familiar image of the society for visitors,” according to the municipality.

She rolled up her sleeves for the Welfare Foundation for forty years. Her repertoire of volunteer activities also consists of the secretaryship of the Roon Historical Society (2000-2008).
