Anita Witzier fails after long TV break: ‘Loser of the evening!’

Anita Witzier is back on the TV after a very long television break, but makes no impression. She disappoints with her Festival of Love program. “She’s the loser of the night!”

After a year without a program, Anita Witzier is finally back on television. Her career is making a slow recovery after she had to abruptly say goodbye to her TV hit Memories due to a renovation. She is now on the TV again with a love program: together with TV talent Edson da Graça she presents the Festival of Love.

Huge viewership dip

Unfortunately for Anita, there are no resounding figures: the premiere of the Festival of Love yesterday did not exceed 526 thousand viewers (13 percent market share). That is a pretty disappointing score: NPO 1 is the most watched TV channel in the Netherlands and the Achtuurjournaal attracted 1.8 million viewers (43 percent) immediately before it.

Even more painful: when Anita appeared out of the picture again, people zapped back to the TV channel en masse. Floortje Dessing managed to captivate 859 thousand viewers (20 percent) with her program Floortje Naar The End Of The World.

What does Tina say?

What does viewing figure prophet Tina Nijkamp say about it? She already indicated yesterday that she feared for the viewing figures: “Will this score? From a programming point of view, a start next week might have been a slightly better choice due to the fact that Raven van Dorst is the Summer Guest. So there is a lot of competition.”

Anita indeed had to let Raven go first: her episode of Zomergasten was the winner at half past eight with 662 thousand viewers (17 percent). RTL 4’s Beat the Champions also did better with 600 thousand viewers (14 percent). “So the loser of the evening is Anita and Edson’s new program,” concludes Tina

Tina points to the enormous viewing figures Anita causes. “It is also the lowest-scoring program of the day on NPO 1 in the commercial target group 20 to 54 years old. The format of the Festival of Love is also incorrect. The target program is far too unclear. And more importantly, it’s a little bit of everything. Four or five formats in one.”

It’s a messy program, she thinks. “It feels fake. Anita and Edson also often play a play. A real shame. And why is a city central. Why are they in a different city every week, like yesterday in Rotterdam? Love is universal, right? I think it seems too produced (fake) to the viewer.”

AD media journalist Marcus den Blanken is also critical. He tweeted: “That Festival of Love seems like a much too long section in a summer evening programme. I tried it for half an hour, but I really can’t get through it.”

Programs that did not make the top 15 include Shownieuws (452 ​​thousand), Undercover in the Netherlands (360 thousand), vtwonen (301 thousand) and Het Roer Om (251 thousand).
