Animal shelter: “Keep your animals indoors on New Year’s Eve”
On an average New Year’s Eve, five dogs are brought in at the Blue Cross in Bruges. They are afraid of the loud bangs, but also of the flashes of light, and flee. The shelter therefore recommends that you bring your dog in on time.
Anne Marie Lagrou: “Many people who still try fireworks on New Year’s Eve, already do a test around eleven o’clock. I would still recommend bringing the dogs in before eleven o’clock, before the tests start, and the actual fireworks. absolutely not good for a dog. Many dogs are scared, try to run away from the fireworks, and then the question is whether we will find them in time and bring them home in safe conditions.”
