THEn original subtitled and remastered version, the second life of animal house, back in theaters for its 45th birthday, is one of the happiest news of early summer. «What we need» declared one of the characters «is a stupid and futile gesture». And the film by John Landis which, together with The Blues Brotherslaunched the short career of John Belushi, is full of them.
Bluto (Belushi, in a silent but very eloquent performance) and his Delta brethren, by turning Faber College upside down, literally undermined the institution and its sacredness. Positioning itself in that segment of American history that was between the 70s and Reagan hedonism. A film that, we bet, has aged well. Or hasn’t it aged at all?
