Animal Collective cancel European tour

Animal Collective cancel their European tour planned for November. “Friends, we are absolutely devastated that we are deciding to cancel our EU and UK dates this November,” the US rock band wrote Instagram. However, the economic situation meant that they had to make losses on the tour.

“We love making music for you guys and really wish we could be there,” the band continued. “As we prepared for this tour, we faced an economic reality that just doesn’t work and is unsustainable.” Inflation, currency depreciation and inflated transportation costs meant the tour would have been possible at a loss . “We hope you understand and know that such a decision is not easy for us.”

The Baltimore band released their eleventh album TIME SKIFFS in spring 2022. As part of the European tour, concerts in Hamburg, Berlin and Munich were planned. Due to the combined problem of lower visitor numbers due to the Covid pandemic and rising costs due to inflation and the energy crisis, other bands are also currently struggling with financial bottlenecks. Texas rock band … And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead recently crowdfunded their fans to fund their European tour.
