VfB Stuttgart wins 2-0 against FC St. Pauli at the start of the 4th match day of the Bundesliga. For a Stuttgart team, however, there was not only reason to be happy.

Ermedin Demirović, reserve captain of VfB Stuttgart, gave his team new impetus after a disappointing start to the season. In the deserved 2-0 win against the previously unbeaten FC St. Pauli, the often criticized attacker was significantly involved. With a goal and a template, he led the reigning cup winner to the second success this season and for the time being brought the team back on course.

“Like a liberation,” said the 27 -year -old center forward at Sky, the victory was. In fact, the previous season had been rather sobering for VfB, sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth reported, after the 1: 3 at SC Freiburg and “three more mixed Bundesliga games”, the “sound was a bit sharper”.

Angelo Stiller still had this stricter tone in an interview with the Pay TV station Sky-but his criticism aims at himself. “I tried to look out, but that was soilless. You have to say,” said the German international about his fired penalty.

In the 24th minute, Stiller could have given his VfB 1-0. Stiller shot a penalty from Eric Smith to Tiago Tomás so weak that St. Pauli’s goalkeeper Nikola Vasilj could easily parry. The 29-year-old has now fended off six out of seven penalty jets in the Bundesliga.

Despite the shot penalty, Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß was satisfied. “This is how we want to perform, that was a deserved victory,” he said of his very committed team. With six points from four games, the Swabians take one step up and are in the midfield of the table. On the 5th matchday they will meet the “Effzeh” on September 28th at 5:30 p.m. in Cologne.
