US actress Angelina Jolie (“Mr. & Mrs. Smith”) visited Ukrainian children at the Vatican Children’s Hospital Bambino Gesù.
The 46-year-old came to the clinic in Rome on Wednesday, as the hospital wrote on Facebook on Thursday. The facility treats children who fled to Italy because of the conflict in Ukraine. Pope Francis has already visited the little patients.
“I am praying for an end to the war,” UN special envoy Jolie said, according to the clinic. This is the only way to end the suffering and the flight from the conflict zone.
“It’s terrifying to see children paying the price in lost lives, compromised health and trauma,” the Hollywood star continued. Actor Brad Pitt’s ex-wife has been involved with refugees through the UN organization UNHCR for years.
She visited numerous countries in Africa and Asia. According to the latest information from the Ministry of the Interior, around 30,000 minors from Ukraine have arrived in Italy since the outbreak of war at the end of February.
