Oscar winner Angelina Jolie (48, “Crazy”) presented her plans for a new fashion project to Vogue magazine. In November, the actress and director wants to open the “Atelier Jolie” in New York in a building where the US artist Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988) once lived, as the magazine reported on Wednesday. Jolie told Vogue that her goal is not to be a “great fashion designer” herself. Rather, she wants to offer other talented people a place where they can work creatively and sustainably.
Social and ecological sustainability should be part of the company philosophy, as should collaboration with artists and other creative people from all over the world. The mother of six referred to the help of her children: Son Pax (19) and daughter Zahara (18) in particular helped set up the project.
Jolie described working with people she trusts as “therapeutic” in changing things in her own life. The star admitted that she felt “a little down.” She hasn’t been herself in the past decade. But she doesn’t want to say anything more about it. Seven years ago she took a step back from her career and reduced her participation in filming. Her family suffered greatly from the situation. They have been through a healing process and are still working on finding stability, says Jolie. She was last seen in the Marvel film “Eternals” in the supporting role of fighter Thena in 2021.
Seven years ago, Jolie’s marriage to Hollywood star Brad Pitt collapsed. At the time, she accused the actor of being violent towards her and the children. In the fall of 2016, the police investigated the alleged incident, but the investigation against Pitt was ultimately closed.
Pitt and Jolie met while filming the film “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” and they got married in 2014. The dream couple, christened “Brangelina”, had three children, and Pitt also took on the role of father to Jolie’s three adopted children. (dpa)
