She was accompanied by at least one bodyguard from Bundeskriminalamt (BKA). Like Merkel herself, he may not have paid attention, because a thief managed to get away with Merkel’s wallet. It contained, among other things, an identity card, bank card, driver’s license and cash.
Merkel did not officially want to comment on the theft, but according to Bild, police confirmed that a 67-year-old woman was robbed of her wallet in the store in question around 11.40 am on Thursday.
