Angela Groothuizen really pissed off about Ron Brandsteder riot: ‘To!’

Angela Groothuizen does not like the fact that six months ago such a major media commotion about Ron Brandsteder arose because of her. “That’s really, really annoying.”

How strange it all went: Ron Brandsteder just didn’t show up for work one day in May. Broadcaster MAX was of course completely shocked, because who would present their show on NPO Radio 5 that evening? It’s difficult to pull the cleaner out from behind his mop. Angela Groothuizen was therefore called in haste.

Vague Angela

Angela was on the radio being incredibly vague about Ron’s absence. When a listener asked if Ron is on holiday, the presenter said: “Yes, we think so. We don’t actually know. We have not been informed of this, but we are certainly doing well.”

She was suggesting all kinds of things for a few hours, so the media jumped on it. MAX came up with a strange excuse about miscommunication, but Ron’s ex Patty Brard didn’t believe it. And then the broadcaster suddenly shouted again that Ron simply had a day off. With a bottle of vodka in his hand perhaps? His wife declined to comment.

Pissed off about riot

As if there weren’t enough excuses already, Ron declared at one point that he was ill: “I wasn’t having a good day, I was a bit physical, I was ehhh, I wasn’t feeling well.”

And all because of Angela who was acting so vague on the radio. If she had just said that Ron had the day off, nothing would have happened and there would have been no fuss. It’s all Angela’s fault, but now – six months later – she is angrily pointing at the media.

Lots of clickbait

It’s all clickbait, Angela fumes in the program The Cute Guest. “Well, there’s a lot of clickbait. For example, I had to fill in for a radio show. I just didn’t know why. Why the person couldn’t. It was Ron Brandsteder. I did not know that. No one had told me that. Nobody knew that either.”

She continues: “I flew in at the end. Maybe whoever was supposed to fill in couldn’t make it, so I came, I had to prepare quickly and I did that show. So I said on that radio show, ‘Yes, you guys have to do it with me today. Ron isn’t there.’ And then one text came in between everything: ‘How vague. Where’s Ron?’ Don’t know.”

Invent

Angela said she did not want to make something up. And then it is the media that “makes a big thing out of that,” she fumes. “It became a thing. It became very big. About nothing. And that’s… That’s annoying. So everyone is trying to make money and attract people. But most of what you read is just complete nonsense.”

Host Özcan Akyol thinks it is naive. “Someone who has been around for so many years. I mean, I experience it myself. I understand their business model, but you can still read… From: shit, I’ll continue immediately.”

Angela: “I usually do that too. But sometimes that doesn’t work.”
